First you need to understand that we are not a software company and therefor the instruction we give you here are are best attempt at helping you. We will however supply you with all information required here and in the information we will send to you upon registration that you will need if you consult someone else.

We also don't offer technical support on the setup.

The information below direct relates to setting up a Windows 98 based machine. You will also need an existing dial-up account. This can be anything that you currently use you to get onto the Internet. Freeserve, BT etc.

Anyway lets get down to it.

From now on, where you see "yourcompanyname" obviously this is where..... your company name will go. There can be no spaces or dots. We will advise you of the exact typing when you register.

Your email address will be yourcompanyname@commsplace.com

Your website will be www.commsplace.com/yourcompanyname

You will be able you give the web address to anyone in the world and they will be able to see your site.

You will also be able to log into your email and receive emails. You will also be able send emails from this address.

First, we have established that you can get onto the Internet so lets set up your new commsplace.com email account.

Step 1. In MS Outlook or Outlook Express go TOOLS > ACCOUNTS

This will launch a small screen where you will see you existing dial up email account

Next we want to add a new account so you go ADD > it will ask for you name, then your email address (which we will have told you upon registration)

The next screen will be as below. Complete it exactly as I have below

SMTP (outgoing mail): If you later have problems sending then you will need to put that of your dialup provider ie: mail.btinternet.com instead of commsplace.com.

Lastly you just need to enter your yourcompanyname and password.

That's it, all done.

Send yourself a test message by posting to: yourcompanyname@commsplace.com. You should find a message from us also.

If you get stuck, go and find any 7 year old, give them this info and go and make a cup of tea. They will have sorted it before the kettle has boiled.
